Privacy Policy

On your device

• Your tabs, Spaces, history, bookmarks, reading list, downloads and settings are stored on your device only. Velune never sends them to us or to anyone else.
• Private windows write nothing: their pages, cookies and history are kept in memory and forgotten when the window closes.
• Velune Premium's daily allowances are counted on your device. Only the counts are kept, never what you asked or wrote.

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking

• Velune Browser contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and does not track you across other companies' apps and websites. It collects no usage data, no device identifiers and no crash reports of its own.
• If you turn on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share anonymous crash reports with us. That is Apple's setting, not Velune's.

Velune Premium: Apple and RevenueCat

• Apple: Velune Premium is bought from Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). Apple handles the payment: we never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details.
• RevenueCat: RevenueCat, Inc. processes each purchase for us. It keeps the purchase history (which plan, when, at what price, in which App Store country) under an anonymous identifier it creates on your device. There is no account, no device identifier is collected, nothing is used for attribution or advertising, and the history is not linked to your identity. It is used only to grant and restore Velune Premium (App Functionality). See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's.

Velune Here and iCloud

• Velune Here notes stay on your device unless you choose to keep Velune Here in iCloud. They then sync between your own devices through your private iCloud database (Apple's CloudKit), never through a server of ours.
• Before a note leaves your device, Velune seals it (AES-256-GCM) with a key kept in your iCloud Keychain. Apple stores the sealed notes and sees only random identifiers, how many notes there are, their size and when they change. Neither Apple nor we can read their titles, text, tasks or links.
• Private windows never sync. In Settings, you can keep Velune Here on this device only, or delete its notes from iCloud, at any time.

Velune Intelligence

• Velune Intelligence runs on Apple Intelligence, on your device first. What needs a larger model, such as summarizing a page or explaining a passage, goes to Apple's Private Cloud Compute, which Apple built so that your data serves only your request and is never stored or made accessible to Apple. From a private window, Velune Intelligence never leaves your device.
• When a question goes beyond the page, Velune may look its subject up on Wikipedia, in your language. Only the subject's words are sent to the Wikimedia Foundation, never your question or the page, and never from a private window. See Wikimedia's privacy policy.
• We never receive what you ask or the text you send.

Other connections Velune makes on its own

Besides the pages you open, the search engine you choose (reached only when you validate a search: Velune fetches no search suggestions) and the services above, Velune connects to:

• Filter lists: about once a month, Velune downloads the public lists it uses to block ads, trackers and cookie banners: EasyList and EasyPrivacy from easylist.to, and EasyList Cookie from secure.fanboy.co.nz, over HTTPS. Nothing about you or your browsing is sent.
• Site icons: when a page loads in a normal window, Velune asks that same website for its icon, without cookies. Never in a private window.
• Apps for links: when a link you follow could open in an app, Velune reads that website's public app association file, from the website itself and without cookies. Only if you then choose to get the app does it ask Apple's App Store which app it is, with your region.
• Reader: the Reader shows an article's images by fetching them from where the page put them, without cookies.

Like any connection on the Internet, each of these shows your IP address to the server it reaches, which handles it under its own privacy policy.

What we receive, and deleting it

• We receive none of your browsing, notes or questions. We see only the anonymous purchase records in RevenueCat, App Store sales totals from Apple, crash reports if you let Apple share them, and what you send us when you write to us.
• Deleting Velune Browser removes everything it kept on your device. Notes you kept in iCloud stay in your iCloud account until you delete them from Velune's Settings. The purchase history RevenueCat keeps is not linked to your identity; Apple keeps its own record of your App Store purchases.
